Google Immersive View

Last night I was searching for a place to get some dessert, when suddenly I was greeted by a full size NeRF in my desktop browser.

Google Immersive View has been in existence for quite some time and still a ton of people do not know that Google is using NeRFs to power interior captures. Throughout the course of last year Immersive View came to more and more cities, such as New York, San Francisco, London, Paris, and Tokyo.

Previously you could only see the NeRFs on mobile devices within the Google Maps app. Additionally, on mobile you can also pause the flythrough and look around the room. The timing is interesting, with SMERF full releasing only last week.

I have reached out to the Google PR team for comment and whether additional features, such as the ability to pause and fly around the scene will be coming to desktop.
