Kapture

Stop me if you've done this before. You started processing a NeRF/3DGS and then walked away from your computer for the next ~20-30 minutes while COLMAP runs. In some cases, COLMAP can take longer than the actual training itself.

With that in mind, Jonathan Chemla, CTO of Iconem, created a workflow to take RealityCapture data registration and transfer them over to COLMAP through Kapture. The result is a faster processing time and depending on where you have data already existing, a useful conversion pipeline.

For those that were following along earlier in the week, the black border bug and the pinhole sensor model conversion have been fixed. Take a look at the full code, here!

Iconem 3D scans heritage sites and cities for UNESCO, Architects, as well as produces immersive exhibitions with massive video projections.

Jonathan has also opened a Support Ticket to allow for direct export to COLMAP from Reality Capture. If you also would like to see this feature enabled, consider commenting on the post!
