Kiri Engine has been hard at work behind the scenes, and with the release of version 3.9, they’ve introduced some exciting features. Notably, the number of photos you can use has increased for both the free and paid versions, offering more flexibility and power to users.
The update also includes significant upgrades to their 3DGS Viewer, improving the frame rate of renderings. Even older phones can now run 3DGS more smoothly, making high-quality 3D scanning accessible to a broader audience.
But what’s caught my attention the most is the introduction of featureless scanning capabilities for reconstruction. This new feature allows you to export your scans as point cloud files directly into Blender, paving the way for seamless integration with this powerful, free 3D editor. Once your .ply file is in Blender, you can fully leverage the tool's capabilities, as demonstrated in this impressive example.
Moreover, the new update includes functionality similar to SuperSplat, allowing you to view and crop files with ease. The best part? The Blender plugin is free and available for download from their Discord.
