Luma AI has released V 0.3 of their Unreal Engine 5 plugin and it features a host of quality of life improvements along with some exciting new features!

If you are updating from V 0.2, Luma cautions:

When upgrading an existing project from older version of the UE plugin onto the latest release, you'll need to delete your old .Luma UAssets and reimport them after successfully installing the updated plugin in order to take advantage of the newest features (quality settings and improved crop control). Before attempting to upgrade, we recommend creating back ups of your entire project.

Luma AI Changelog

Full list of Updates

  • Added crop rotation and center controls

    • You can now crop out any region of your Luma Field that fits into a rotated box

    • More intuitive crop controls will hopefully follow with future updates

    • You can find these controls under Crop Rotation and Crop Bounding Center in the Luma section of your Blueprint detail view (make sure you have the filter/section set to All to be able to see these)

  • Added simple quality settings for newly imported Luma Fields

    • These range from Minimal to Extreme and are intended to cover various use cases and system specifications

    • Note that Extreme is not intended to run smoothly in real-time, but if you need the most crisp outputs for your final renders (especially at far distances to the camera) you might find this useful

    • These controls can be found under the Quality drop-down selector in your Blueprint detail view. The default setting that corresponds to the quality of previous' versions of the plugin is Mid

  • Added various warnings if Luma Fields are imported that are outdated and need to be reprocessed

  • Fixed various minor issues that sometimes led to artifacts or crashes

Version .3 can be downloaded here. Give it a try and see what you can make with NeRFs in Unreal Engine!
