When 3DVista introduced Gaussian Splatting support at the start of the year, it marked a turning point for one of the virtual tour industry’s most established platforms. With the release of version 2025.2, more capabilities and ease of use for gaussian splatting has arrived.
The January update focused on enabling splats. The spring release tightened compression and continuity. Now, with 2025.2, 3DVista is threading radiance field formats deeper into its workflow, accelerating load times, adding support for next gen file types, and making the viewer experience more fluid.
SOGs support has arrived from this update. SOGs or self organizing gaussians has been quick to be adopted in the gaussian splatting ecosystem, because of its efficient compression scheme. This update also brings performance improvements to Spherical Harmonics compression. In 2025.2, SH-compressed conversions run faster and produce higher quality results.
