GMix.ai, which stands for Generative Mixtures of AI, has unveiled its first preview, revealing the innovative project they've been developing. The San Francisco-based team announced their website launch on Twitter.
This is the first public implementation of dynamic Gaussian Splatting that I've seen and man it's incredibly fun to play with! Their website cleverly guides viewers through a progression, intuitively demonstrating how you can navigate through a scene. However, where it's significantly more powerful is through VR.
They already support WebXR to view dynamic Gaussian Splatting scenes. There are currently two demo scenes to explore. I put it through some tests last night and frankly it was the only thing that could distract me from Sora's release.
By pinching your pointer finger to your thumb, you can 'freeze' time, pausing the dynamic scene It definitely has an element of XMen's QuickSilver when you pause time.
GMix currently doesn't allow for people to view their own datasets, but there's not a ton of people who are sitting on a large volume of compatible datasets, except for maybe Infinite Realities. However that said, it's not nearly as difficult to capture footage compatible to use for dynamic scenes as you might be imagining. GMix is actively looking for creatives, filmmakers, and tech enthusiasts who share the vision of a dynamic future. They're looking to push the boundary of how to create the best cinematic experience for people right now.
In a recent conversation with their CEO, Diego, who took me through their platform, visions for the future, and how they're approaching executing on it. For us end users, it's going to be an exciting and enjoyable future. There will be more updates to come in the near future and things are just going to get stronger. It's only mid February and we've already pushed the envelope hard.
