Adobe After Effects has welcomed a new addition to its suite—Radiance Fields, via the newly introduced irrealix plugin. This plugin significantly broadens the range of compatible platforms within After Effects, complementing Postshot as one of the two primary methods to integrate Radiance Fields.

Currently, Irrealix supports Gaussian Splatting and offers a straightforward process to import a PLY file— using just a drag and drop.

Because the input is just a ply, this facilitates bringing captures from most other platforms including Luma, Nerfstudio, and Polycam, directly into After Effects.

They've also created a tutorial walk through of how to get started and demonstrate some of the features.

They're asking for $49 for the plugin, but right now they're running a discount for $37. There's also a free trial, which is what I've been using thus far and it's been great.

Once your capture is imported, several preconfigured effects are ready to use. Basic features such as cropping and scene alignment are supported right out of the box. Moreover, Irrealix allows for the combination of up to five different captures within the same scene. More advanced effects are also available for those seeking greater creative freedom.

For those who have been wanting more control over Luma AI's well regarded Magic Reveal, now have the ability to recreate it, with complete control using the Splat Scale and Opacity Ramp. You can also colorize certain splats in a scene and combine the two, like below.

I have been super interested in the manipulation of Gaussians, since I saw Simon Green's videos and Alexandre Devaux's experiments.

Having the effects within After Effects is super handy and irrealix's tutorial made getting started way easier for me, despite having very limited After Effects exposure. Irrealix supports After Effects on both Mac and PC, versions CC and later.

Given that it opens the door to After Effects from all the Gaussian Splatting platforms, I'm hopeful this will result in more creative outputs.
