Rocky Mountain Emmys

Almost a year ago, an exciting project was completed by Kody Kurth and the team at Profectum Media, where they captured NeRFs of the entire Phoenix Suns team.

These captures came together to create the 2024 introductory video for the Phoenix Suns. Now, the Profectum Media team is being recognized for their work with a regional Emmy nomination for Technical Achievement. The nomination highlights the innovative use of an emerging set of technology that holds the promise of reshaping how fans connect with the sport and their favorite players.

They later released a behind-the-scenes video showcasing how they accomplished this feat, utilizing over 50 GoPros and receiving support from the Luma AI team.

The NeRFs created for this project can be reused continuously, not only throughout this season but also in future seasons. This allows for redoing and repurposing camera movements and flythroughs without the need for reshooting or coordinating the players’ time. I expect this use case to skyrocket over the next year or two, as teams and production studios realize the immense benefits of "filming in post."

Congratulations to all involved, and good luck! The winners will be announced on Saturday, November 16th.
