Reflct

Reflct, the platform that is targeting how we interact with the Radiance Field method, 3D Gaussian Splatting (3DGS), has officially entered open beta. After months of focused development, the team has unveiled a series of updates that promise to elevate both usability and functionality for creators and end-users alike. We most recently looked at the very helpful Frame Selector tool from Reflct.

One of the most noticeable updates lies in the viewer itself. With a refreshed user interface, navigating 3D scenes feels more intuitive than ever. Mobile users will be pleased to find improved viewer sizing, ensuring a seamless experience regardless of device. Sharing scenes has also been enhanced, with previews now displaying the title and description to provide essential context at a glance. A new play icon for auto navigation adds a dynamic touch, guiding users effortlessly through pre-defined paths, while the updated loading animation and refined transition effects make the overall experience smoother and more visually engaging. It’s clear details has been thoughtfully crafted to make viewing and interacting with 3D scenes an enjoyable process.

The dashboard has also seen its share of improvements. In a move towards greater accessibility, the dashboard is now functional on mobile devices. While full scene editing remains a desktop feature, users can browse their list of scenes and open them directly in the mobile viewer.

For creators, a prompt has been introduced to save camera data when leaving the view detail screen or saving a scene, ensuring that no progress is lost unintentionally. Addressing a common frustration, the persistent view lock issue has been resolved, offering a smoother editing workflow. Additionally, signing up is now more convenient than ever with the addition of GitHub authentication, and Google and Microsoft login options are just around the corner. To top it all off, a “Forgot Password” flow has been implemented, making account recovery straightforward. Together, these updates are all a welcome addition to streamlining radiance field distribution.

For those looking to deepen their understanding of 3DGS, Reflct’s newly launched documentation site is also a helpful repository. However, Radiance Field methods, such as Gaussian Splatting, are significantly less sensitive to ISO than traditional photography. I have repeatedly found that traditional photography rules don’t always apply—you can shoot well above 10K ISO, depending on your sensor size.

Another noteworthy update is that the frame extraction tool has received some performance enhancements. This free tool, designed to help users extract sharp frames from video, is now faster and more efficient.

The platform’s new website offers a gateway to these innovations, inviting users to explore its capabilities and contribute to its growth. The team’s vision extends far beyond the current updates, with plans to introduce advanced camera controls, expanded integrations, and even more feature enhancements in the near future.

It's exciting to have an emerging distribution method for the radiance field method. To sign up for the open beta, visit the Reflct website.
