Stonex has released Cube-3D Genesys, new processing software for its SLAM laser scanners that replaces GOpost. Cube-3D Genesys lists 3D Gaussian Splatting among its processing modules and exports splats as .ply files.
Stonex first brought splats to its scanners with GOpost v2.4.3 and its "3DGS PreTraining" option, which prepared 360 imagery and SLAM trajectories for reconstruction. At the time, Stonex recommended running the reconstruction itself in Postshot, using camera poses generated by GOpost.
Stonex's product page describes Cube-3D Genesys in six parts. Mapping Processing handles SLAM reconstruction, Orientation & Accuracy Control georeferences data through RTK, PPK, or GCP workflows, and Filters & Optimization covers point cloud filtering, optimization, and masking. The Pano Images & 3DGS module pairs synchronized panoramic imagery with Gaussian splatting, and Direct Cube-3D Integration opens processed point clouds in Stonex's Cube-3D software for editing and analysis.
A sixth part, Ready-to-Model, exports point clouds as .las, .e57, and .rcs for Autodesk and other BIM applications. The remaining outputs are trajectories as .txt, panoramas as .jpg, geotags as .jpg and .csv, and a processing report as .pdf.
What Stonex does not state is whether splat training now runs inside Cube-3D Genesys or is still handed to an external trainer. The company also publishes no version number or GPU requirements, and the Genesys launch announcement does not mention Gaussian splatting at all.
Cube-3D Genesys supports the X40GO, X70GO, X120GO v2, and X200GO scanners. It is sold as a perpetual license with one year of free updates, followed by an optional Maintenance Plan from the second year. Owners of supported scanners can upgrade from GOpost for free until December 31, 2026, with the X120GO v1 excluded, and GOpost support ends in January 2027.
Stonex handles upgrades to Cube-3D Genesys through its local dealers.
