The Shenzhen based company, Kiri Innovation, maker of Kiri Engine has announced their implementation of Gaussian Splatting. This is particularly noteworthy because it works natively on Android, in addition to iOS and Web.
As CEO Jack Wang states, 3D technology has been moving exponentially fast. Kiri Engine is the first company to support Gaussian Splatting on both iOS, Android, and Web. Kiri has been in the game for a while, with using both LiDAR and Photogrammetry pipelines, but is no stranger to NeRFs. Kiri Engine also has a direct pipeline for data conversion directly into nerfstudio.
While Luma supports Gaussian Splatting on Android, through their web browser, Kiri Engine is the first company to natively offer support on both operating systems.
I was out in Chelsea Market when I got the notification, so most all of my initial tests have come from the busy marketplace. I will continue to test out more locations and report back. Kiri Engine launches with the ability to embed 3DGS directly into an iFrame, as seen above.
For those keen to delve deeper into this technology, KIRI's Co-Founder and CEO, Jack, provides a comprehensive overview in a video linked below. This development by KIRI Innovations is not just a technological advancement; it's a gateway to a new era of 3D visualization, where realism meets accessibility.
In order to try it out, you will need a Kiri Engine Pro account, which does come in at $36 annually. I have started to test out several datasets and will keep you posted about how they come out. As of right now, you can only process footage directly from the Kiri Engine App (iOS or Android). As Web upload becomes available, I will keep you updated.
Experience this cutting-edge technology by downloading the KIRI Engine app, available on both Google Play Store and the App Store.
