Arcana Mfg. Co., Ltd. has released Splat2Mesh 1.0, a Windows application that converts 3D Gaussian Splatting PLY files into OBJ or GLB meshes.
Conversion runs on the local machine. A PLY is loaded into the application, mesh generation parameters are set, and the result is written out as OBJ or GLB. Arcana supplies a Sample.ply alongside the download and does not state which 3DGS PLY variants the importer accepts.
KIRI Engine has offered 3DGS to mesh conversion since January 2024, and its April update generates the mesh and the splat from the same capture inside the iOS and Android app. Splat2Mesh reads a PLY off disk.
Free use covers personal work, hobby and learning, education, and non-commercial research. Companies and sole proprietors get free use only for limited evaluation. A commercial licence, arranged by contacting Arcana, is required for R&D, product development, design, prototyping, manufacturing, internal business operations, and paid 3D printing or data conversion services. The restriction follows the output, so a mesh produced by Splat2Mesh needs a commercial licence before any business use.
The agreement prohibits redistribution, modification and reverse engineering, and Arcana publishes no source. It also permits the software to send device, licence and usage information to Arcana servers, while stating that input and converted data are not collected.
Arcana said the software runs in a local environment and requires no GPU. The Splat2Mesh product page states Windows 11 support and gives no processor, memory or graphics floor, no maximum input size, and no names for the mesh generation parameters.
Arcana Mfg. Co., Ltd. is a Nagano based manufacturer founded in 2021 that builds the FacTrans 3D scanner line and CNC equipment. Splat2Mesh_v1.0.zip is a 110 MB download gated behind a licence agreement checkbox. It is free for personal and non-commercial use. Learn more here.
