Another exciting method has been added to the Nerfstudio repository: Bilateral Guided Radiance Fields, which recently received the SIGGRAPH 2024 Best Paper Honorable Mention.
This method caught my attention just a couple of months ago, with its strong ability to accurately reconstruct captures across varying exposure and color levels. Now it's available for everyone to try. Currently, Blarf (if anyone has any other name suggestions, I'm open) works with Splatfacto, but you'll need to add a flag to your command to enable training with it, as it is disabled by default.
This feature should allow for more forgiving reconstructions across datasets with varying exposure levels, and I'm eager to try it myself.
The rate of pull requests seems to increase weekly for the Berkeley-based platform. Even more exciting, there are several other features that are close to being merged.
Nerfstudio continues to be commercially permissive with an Apache 2.0 license. If you've been thinking about contributing, now is the time. You can find Nerfstudio's GitHub repository here and the original project page for Bilarf, here.
