The Australian property platform Domain is betting that Gaussian splatting belongs in every home listing, not just the luxury ones. Starting July 1, 2026, the company will roll out photorealistic 3D walkthroughs powered by Gaussian splat technology across more than 1,700 suburbs in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and the Gold Coast.

Domain has built an in house team of more than 25 full time specialists, professional photographers and CASA licensed drone pilots, with plans to grow the workforce to over 60 operators nationwide.

The technology stack runs through the CoStar Group's Matterport 3D Exteriors and produces what Domain calls "dollhouse" views, full property 3D visualizations that let buyers understand the scale and proportion of a home before visiting in person. The feature set includes interactive floorplans, full-property mapping with drone-captured exteriors, virtual furniture removal to show underlying layouts, point to point room measurements, and the photorealistic 3D visualizations that Gaussian splatting enables.

Domain is one of Australia's largest property platforms deploying them as a core product feature at national scale. The fact that even modest suburban homes will receive the same level of 3D capture previously reserved for high end listings suggests that the cost and complexity of splat based workflows have dropped to the point where they make economic sense at volume.
