In what to my knowledge is the first 100% NeRF short film, filmmaker, Jake Oleson, released his project, "Given Again". Today we get the first glimpse as to what the power of NeRF can do in the hands of filmmakers.
Given Again is about Oleson's journey to finding acceptance to a traumatic event. While he writes that more information behind the project will be coming, I highly recommend giving it a watch. It was shot 100% using Luma AI and its NeRF platform.
The film was originally shown at the Artificial Intelligence Film Festival by Runway ML in New York back in late February, where it won Silver. Now, it has been finally published for the first time to the public.
The film does an amazing job showcasing the ability of the cam path editor and moreover, the fidelity that is able to be achieved even in low light, is shocking.
This should dispel any remaining concerns about the viability of NeRF has a platform for creators and a storytelling medium and shows how NeRF can be used to express emotions and stories.
The film stars:
Starring Michelle Nova Luna
Written, Directed & Edited by Jake Oleson
Music by Jake Oleson
Colored by Jared Rosenthal
Mixed by Aneek Thapar
It has been fascinating to watch the progression from NeRF screenshots, to render videos, and now short stories. Jake sets a high foundational bar for other creators to meet, though I suspect that people will begin to rapidly adopt and release more.
