The French Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology (Inria), the company behind the well known paper, 3D Gaussian Splatting, is looking to build upon their work.
The position itself is located in the French Riviera, which I'm sure doesn't have a bad view on the commute in.
The information contained in the job description is very exciting, with them fully acknowledging the potential multi industry impact that 3DGS can have. As part of the position, they will be working on making 3D Gaussian Splatting faster and easier to adopt for the world at large with the GRAPHDECO research group.
Additionally, the work will include the development of new features for 3DGS, including porting to other
rendering APIs/platforms, integrating the viewer with python, optimizing the method by
removing pytorch overhead, optimizing pose estimation and handling exposure correctly. Some such features may come from requests from industrial partners.Job DescriptionTweet
This is so exciting to see. Radiance fields have a natural fit with industrial partners and seeing that there is already interest in implementing them, should be getting people excited. Keep in mind that these are Trillion dollar industries. I am also very curious to see what the fidelity of Gaussian Splatting looks like with optimized post estimation and exposure calibration. Giving the high floor they're starting with, you can only imagine where it will end up.
If you are interested in the position, the job description asks you to please email team project leader, George Drettakis (also one of the authors of 3DGS) at George.Drettakis@inria.fr.
We've started to see the hiring market heat up for 3D Gaussian Splatting engineers. Last week Luma announced that they had added Jakub Červený to their team, who you might remember from Gsplat.
Radiance fields are truly starting to burgeon and I believe that over the course of the next two years we will see more and more of the world's largest industries, from advertising, to Ecommerce, to heavy industry begin to leverage their benefits.
