Insta360 X6

Insta360 has released the X6, which carries the ability to reconstruct gaussian splatting from 360 captures through a feature called Spatial Capture.

Insta360's earlier splat work ran through Project ETERNAL, an April collaboration with Antigravity, Splatica and CyArk, an enterprise track built on web upload. Spatial Capture is a consumer feature inside the Insta360 app and uses a different processing vendor.

Models are viewed in the Insta360 app with gyro and joystick modes, through shareable web links that can expire, and on desktop with WASD controls. In app attribution strings read Shot by %s generated by Remy. The terms reserve the right to adjust monthly quota allocation, validity rules and consumption methods, and no price is published.

The X6 records 8K50fps 360 video at 7680x3840 and 120MP 360 photos at 15520x7760 on dual Sony custom 1/1.1 inch square sensors, which Insta360 footnotes as delivering an imaging area equivalent to a 1 inch sensor, with a 4:3 aspect ratio, when shooting 360 content. A Qualcomm 4nm chip and two dedicated AI imaging chips handle processing, stitching and stabilization. The camera weighs 196g, is IP68 rated and waterproof to 20m, carries 64GB of built in storage with 47GB available, and runs 140 minutes at 8K30fps on a 2600mAh battery.

Insta360 does not state a Spatial Capture release date, the supported capture modes, or which regions are excluded, though I am told that the US will not be supported for gaussian splatting at launch. Excitingly, the X6 product page reads that Spatial Capture currently supports Insta360 X6, X5 and X4 in select modes, with more devices in future updates.

Processing does not run on the camera. The Insta360 Spatial Capture Service Feature Terms of Service, version 1.0 and dated August 7, 2026, state that captured data is sent to an external processing vendor, Remy Innovation Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd., which performs 3D reconstruction, algorithmic calculations and result generation before returning results to the Insta360 app. You might recognize Remy as the same team that builds KIRI Engine.

The feature is optional, requires an internet connection and an Insta360 account login, and is turned on through an Agree and Enable button. Collection covers spatial and environmental image or video data, sensor data such as depth, position and orientation, and account identifier information.

The X6 is available now, beginning at $699 in the United States from the direct Insta360 store and Amazon.
