Insta360

Insta360 is the camera brand of Arashi Vision Inc, founded in 2015 and operating offices in Los Angeles, Tokyo, Berlin, Shenzhen and Hong Kong. The company says creators in more than 200 countries and regions have captured over 186 million photos and videos on its cameras, and it cites a Frost & Sullivan report published in August 2024 covering 2023 panoramic camera market share to describe itself as the world's leading 360 camera brand. The product line runs from pocket 360 cameras through action cameras to gimbals.

The Insta360 X6 is the current flagship. It uses two custom Sony 1/1.1 inch square sensors, which Insta360 footnotes as an imaging area equivalent to a 1 inch sensor with a 4 by 3 aspect ratio when shooting 360 content. It records 8K 360 video at 7680 by 3840 at 50 frames per second, shoots 120MP 360 photos at 15520 by 7760 and 42MP flat photos, and pairs a Qualcomm 4nm chip with two dedicated AI imaging chips. Colour is 10-bit with I-Log and native in-camera Dolby Vision. The body weighs 196 grams, measures 50.0 by 100.0 by 40.0mm with the lens, carries a 2.32 inch OLED screen and 64GB of built-in storage of which 47GB is available, and is IP68 rated and waterproof to 20 metres without a case or 60 metres with the Invisible Dive Case Pro. The 2600mAh battery runs 140 minutes at 8K30 and reaches 80 percent charge in 24 minutes. Storage expands over microSD at UHS-I V30 or higher, connectivity is Wi-Fi 6, USB-C 3.1 and BLE 5.3, the lenses are replaceable under the Replaceable Lenses 2.0 system, and the operating range is minus 20C to 40C. Against the X5, Insta360 claims 100 percent more 8K pixels, 14.5 stops of maximum dynamic range, 300 percent more light intake per pixel, a 51 percent run time increase and a 500 percent increase in computing power.

Spatial Capture is the feature that brings Insta360 into radiance fields, and it arrived with the X6 on August 12, 2026. Insta360 describes it as capturing objects or spaces in 360 and then importing the result into the Insta360 app to generate a 3D Gaussian splatting model. None of that reconstruction happens on the camera. The Spatial Capture Service Feature Terms of Service, version 1.0 dated August 7 2026, name Remy Innovation Technology (Shenzhen) Co., Ltd. as the vendor performing 3D reconstruction, algorithmic calculations and result generation on servers located in Europe, the United States or Southeast Asia, and state that original files are deleted within 24 hours. The contracting party is Arashi Vision Inc.

Spatial Capture runs against a monthly quota tied to an Insta360 account. Insta360 publishes no price for it and the word subscription does not appear anywhere in its terms. Device support covers the X6, X5 and X4 in select modes, with more devices promised in future updates, and Insta360 notes the feature is not supported in some regions. The German locale of the same footnote instead lists the X6, X5, X4 Air and X4. Finished models are viewed in the Insta360 app with gyro and joystick modes, on desktop with WASD controls, and through shareable web links that can expire. Insta360 makes no claim of playback on a standalone VR headset.

Insta360 files reach splatting pipelines outside the company's own app. Varjo Teleport takes Insta360 .insv files directly in beta as of August 2026, and Topodrone's Pocket 3D pairs a 700 gram LiDAR SLAM scanner with an Insta360 or DJI camera to output a point cloud, panoramas and a 3DGS model. The sister brand Antigravity, which shares Insta360's Shenzhen base, released the A1 360 drone in December 2025.
