Bedrock Robotics
Join the Team Bringing Advanced Autonomy to the Built World
At Bedrock, we're moving AI out of the lab and into the real world. Our team is composed of industry veterans who helped launch Waymo, scaled Segment to a $3.2B acquisition, and grew Uber Freight to $5B in revenue.
Today, we're deploying autonomous systems on heavy construction machinery across the country, accelerating project schedules for billion-dollar infrastructure projects while improving safety on job sites. Backed by $350 million in funding, we're working to close the gap between America's growing demand for housing, data centers, manufacturing facilities, and the construction industry's increasing labor shortage.
This is where algorithms meet steel-toed boots. You'll collaborate with construction experts and world-class engineers to solve real-world challenges that simulations alone cannot address. If you're excited to apply cutting-edge technology to meaningful problems alongside an exceptional team, we'd love to hear from you.
The Mission
We're looking for exceptional Software Engineers to build and scale our robotics simulation environment.
Simulation is a foundational component of autonomy at Bedrock. It enables us to:
Validate end-to-end autonomous systems
Evaluate complex and safety-critical scenarios
Execute testing at massive scale
Our autonomy stack is deeply driven by machine learning, and closing the sim-to-real gap is a primary focus of this role. The simulator must accurately model real-world physics—including terrain deformation for digging and earthmoving—while remaining efficient enough to support thousands of simulation runs. High-quality simulation directly accelerates robotics development, making this work central to our success.
What You'll Do
Build and scale high-fidelity simulation environments for autonomous construction machinery.
Develop simulation systems that support machine learning-based autonomy, evaluation, and safety validation.
Improve simulation realism and performance to better reflect real-world behavior.
Help define our strategy for scene generation and neural rendering techniques.
Write production-quality code and develop real simulation systems—not just prototypes.
Who You Are
Simulation spans many disciplines, and we don't expect any one person to be an expert in everything. Strong candidates typically bring:
A passion for building large-scale, realistic simulation systems.
Experience with advanced 3D simulation software.
Experience evaluating simulation systems and improving realism to support autonomous robotics.
A hands-on mindset with enthusiasm for building core simulation algorithms and content.
What We're Looking For
Degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science with demonstrated strength in mathematics and physics.
4+ years of professional software engineering experience building modular, maintainable, production-quality software in C++.
2+ years of experience with one or more 3D engines or simulation frameworks, including:
Unreal Engine
Unity
Godot
Blender
Gazebo
Isaac Sim
NVIDIA Omniverse
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Rust or interest in learning it.
Background in robotics simulation.
Experience with neural rendering technologies, including:
Gaussian Splatting
NeRFs
Don't Meet Every Requirement?
Our roles are often flexible. If you don't meet every qualification—or you're located in another city, especially one where we have an office such as San Francisco or New York—we still encourage you to apply. We'd love to consider your background and experience.
For engineers
Get matched with radiance field roles
Share your background and we’ll connect you with companies hiring for Gaussian splatting & NeRF — sometimes before roles are even posted.
We only share your details with companies you’d be a fit for.
