Luma hit the ground running this Monday announcing that Professor Angjoo Kanazawa will be an advisor to the company. While not formally a co-founder of the open source project, Nerfstudio, she is the professor to several of the team members. For those interested in the full list of authors, they can be accessed in Nerfstudio's arxiv here.

This is a fantastic advisor for Luma AI, as Angjoo Kanazawa is one of the leading minds in Neural Radiance Fields. She leads the Kanazawa AI Research (KAIR) lab at Berkeley's Artificial Intelligence Research (BAIR) program with students such as Matt Tancik, Ethan Weber, and Evonne Ng.

Her prowess has also been seen on recent papers such as Instruct-NeRF2NeRF, LERF, and PlenOctrees. The last one is notable as it was done with Alex Yu, one of Luma's co-founders.

Professor Kanazawa was most recently seen giving a talk at GTC about Nerfstudio: A Modular Framework for Neural Radiance Field Development.

This move represents a big get for the Luma team and will no doubt have rippling effects across their organization. It is unclear as of right now how this will affect her presence at BAIR and the NeRFstudio project.
