Parallel Domain has announced PD Forma, software that it says turns raw real world capture logs into simulation ready environments in hours.
PD Forma builds on PD Replica, which Parallel Domain introduced in 2024 to convert video and image scans into simulation ready 3D environments. PD Forma brings reconstruction, quality assessment and scenario extraction into one pipeline, built on Parallel Domain's 4D Geometric Foundation Model, which reconstructs dynamic agents and behaviors alongside the static environment, so a captured scenario can be replayed or varied in simulation.
Teams build replicas themselves through a web app, a CLI or an API. Raw logs are validated and curated before upload, then processed in batches using presets for driving, drone and indoor scenes. When a run fails, stage logs show what broke, and teams can restart from that stage instead of from the beginning. Multiple capture logs can be combined into larger replicas, and mixed camera inputs are supported.
Every PD Forma replica comes with a quality report that compares the rendered output to the original capture. The replica can be reviewed against that report before it is published to PD Sim for camera, lidar and radar simulation.
A single reconstructed scene can also be reused across times of day and weather, including dawn, dusk, rain and snow, with its geometry held fixed while conditions change. PD Forma targets three uses beyond driving. Drone delivery teams can turn flight logs into replicas of the neighborhoods they serve, autonomous aircraft teams can reconstruct airfields and approach paths, and robotics teams can recreate warehouses and facilities to test around people and equipment.
The launch materials do not name the scene representation behind PD Forma, and they give no reconstruction time beyond hours, no pricing and no availability date. Parallel Domain has previously described its move from procedural generation to reconstructive simulation in terms of NeRFs and Gaussian splats.
Parallel Domain CEO Zack Novak said customer usage has increased 19X over the past six months. More details are on Parallel Domain's site.
