Revopoint designs and manufactures handheld and desktop 3D scanners, operating a vertically integrated model that covers its own micro and nano optical chips, visual algorithms and product manufacturing. The company reports 300 or more employees, 140 or more patents and market coverage across 150 countries and regions, and describes itself as the most backed company in Kickstarter's 3D category. Its milestone list runs back to 2014. In 2026 it launched three scanners, the POP 4, the MetroY Ultra and the Trackit SR.
The scanner software is Revo Scan 6, which is free and which replaced the Revo Scan 5 architecture with a one scan one file structure and a rebuilt post processing workflow. Revo Scan 6 V6.2.2 added POP 4 support on June 26 2026, and V6.2.3 brought the 3DGS function to the Mac build for the POP 4 alongside device support for the INSPIRE, RANGE 2, MINI 2, POP 3 and MIRACO series. Windows reached V6.3.1 on August 7 2026 and macOS followed on August 11 2026, with the Android capture app at V6.0.3 from August 10 2026 and the iOS app at V6.0.1.
V6.3.0 added two separate high resolution image modes that sit in different parts of the software. Texture Capture attaches images from mobile phones and professional cameras to texture mapping to raise texture quality, and 3DGS Image Supplement feeds the same class of images into 3DGS model training to raise model quality. Both are limited to the POP 4 and the INSPIRE 2. The same release adds AMD graphics card support for 3DGS training and AI powered segmentation, extends GPU accelerated full field HD scan point cloud fusion to NVIDIA, AMD and Mac graphics cards, and adds a new mesh generation algorithm Revopoint describes as three times faster. Revopoint lists GPU acceleration compatibility testing for three AMD parts, the RX 7700 XT, the RX 9070 XT and the RX 6750 GRE. The Windows only V6.3.1 that followed adds a GPU fusion scope and extends GPU accelerated point cloud fusion to hybrid HD scanning and VCSEL fast scanning, and changes nothing in the 3DGS pipeline.
The POP 4 is the flagship for splat work. It runs five scanning modes across blue multi line laser, near infrared full field structured light and VCSEL structured light, reaching up to 105 fps in laser mode and scanning outdoors in up to 100,000 lux. Volumetric accuracy is 0.03 mm plus 0.05 mm times L in meters using multi line laser mode, working distance runs from 200 mm to 800 mm depending on mode, and real time AI object segmentation runs during capture. Revopoint describes the splat pipeline as patented physically scaled 3D Gaussian Splatting, converting point cloud and RGB scan data into 1 to 1 Gaussian models. The INSPIRE 2 is the entry point, a 190 gram unit with 11 parallel infrared laser lines, volumetric accuracy of 0.05 mm plus 0.1 mm times L in meters, 1.5x and 2x optical zoom, and outdoor scanning to 20,000 lux.
Platform coverage for the splat features is narrower than for scanning generally. Revopoint's own compatibility matrix marks 3DGS as available on Windows with NVIDIA, Windows with AMD and macOS on ARM64, with iOS and iPadOS listed as coming soon. Mobile devices capture and transmit data to a PC for 3DGS computation rather than training locally. macOS on x86_64 and Linux are not supported at all. Revopoint's minimum stated Windows floor for the INSPIRE 2 is an Intel i7 13th generation or Ryzen 7 5800 with 16 GB of RAM and an RTX 3060, with an RTX 4060 or better recommended.
The INSPIRE 2 product page names Revo Metro as its PC software, and its specification table lists output formats of PLY, OBJ, STL, ASC, 3MF, GLTF, FBX and Splat. The 3DGS training itself lands in Revo Scan 6 rather than in Revo Metro.
Revo Scan 6 is a free download.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which Revopoint scanners can produce Gaussian splats?
The Revopoint POP 4 and the INSPIRE 2 are the two scanners that support 3D Gaussian Splatting in Revo Scan 6. The POP 4 gained the capability first, and the INSPIRE 2 was added in Revo Scan 6 V6.3.0 on July 25 2026.
Is Revo Scan 6 free?
Revo Scan 6 is free. Revopoint charges for the scanners and for its professional software, Revo Measure from $499 and Revo Design from $540, but the scanning and 3DGS training software carries no license fee.
Does Revopoint 3DGS training work on AMD graphics cards?
Yes. Revo Scan 6 V6.3.0 added AMD graphics card support for 3DGS training and AI powered segmentation. Before that release, 3DGS training on Windows required an NVIDIA GPU. Revopoint lists GPU acceleration compatibility testing for the RX 7700 XT, the RX 9070 XT and the RX 6750 GRE.
Can Revopoint scanners train Gaussian splats on a Mac?
Yes, on Apple silicon only. Revo Scan 6 supports 3DGS on macOS ARM64, and Revo Scan 6 V6.2.3 was the release that brought the function to the Mac build. macOS on x86_64 and Linux are not supported.
What is the difference between Texture Capture and 3DGS Image Supplement?
They are two separate modes introduced in Revo Scan 6 V6.3.0 that sit in different parts of the software. Texture Capture attaches high resolution images to texture mapping to raise texture quality. 3DGS Image Supplement feeds high resolution images into 3DGS model training to raise model quality. Both are limited to the POP 4 and the INSPIRE 2.
