Skyline Software Systems says TerraExplorer 8.1 can take basic measurements and run analysis directly on gaussian splats.
Skyline confirmed splat support in October 2025 without naming a product or version. In December 2025 it released TerraExplorer Fusion 8.5 and SkylineGlobe Server 8.5, describing the Fusion support as initial and listing analysis compatibility as future work.
Skyline's own splat pipeline runs through PhotoMesh. The PhotoMesh 8.1 release notes describe gaussian splatting reconstruction as an experimental, early access service that outputs o3DML models, which stream to TerraExplorer Desktop v8.1, TerraExplorer Fusion v8.5 and SkylineGlobe Server v8.5. Skyline says SkylineGlobe Server 8.5 also exposes the splats as OGC 3D Tiles for Cesium based applications.
Skyline says the splat in TerraExplorer 8.1 is fully georeferenced and sits in the same project as terrain, imagery, point clouds, meshes and vector data. Skyline credits the splat with fine detail, soft edges and thin structures that meshes do not match. The company pitches it as photorealism that does not give up accuracy at range.
Skyline does not name which measurement or analysis tools work on splats, which TerraExplorer edition and build carry the capability, or whether formats beyond o3DML load.
Skyline detailed the feature in a LinkedIn post.
