Metaverse Stage has released Spatial Film 9.2, which adds a Splat Player that opens 3D Gaussian Splat .ply files on Apple Vision Pro. Spatial Film shipped as a catalogue of Apple Immersive films paired with a free player for 3D, VR180 and 360 video, converting footage to Vision Pro formats without re-encoding and without handling splats at all.
The Splat Player opens .ply files up to 400,000 splats from the Files app. Scenes load at one to one scale, with pinch and drag to move through them and a two handed pinch to turn or resize, and opened splats are saved to a library with thumbnails.
Add from Link accepts an Insta360 Spatial Capture share link and loads the capture directly, and the listing calls Spatial Film the easiest way to view Insta360 X6 Spatial Captures on Apple Vision Pro. Insta360 brought Spatial Capture to the X6, reconstructing 360 captures in the cloud and returning models that are viewed in the Insta360 app or through shareable web links.
The app description and the version 9.2 release notes both state visionOS 27, while the Compatibility field for the app reads visionOS 26.0 or later.
Spatial Film is free with in app purchases, and the immersive film catalogue is the optional subscription, which the Splat Player does not sit behind. The app runs 489.7 MB, is published by Metaverse Stage and is copyrighted to Emmy Award winning filmmaker Hugh Hou. Spatial Film 9.2 is available now.
