Simulacrum Inc now ships full source code with Splat Box Editor, its $199 Unity Editor plugin for editing 3D gaussian splats.
The Simulacrum site lists PLY import and export, visual selection, transform gizmos and batch operations, with no relighting, no shadows and no second file format. The current shop listing adds import and export for SPZ, the compression format Niantic open sourced in late 2024, and folds in a relighting system. The product now sells under the name Splat Box Editor (included Re-lighting).
Splat Box Editor's relighting covers real time dynamic lighting with directional, point, spot and planar lights, shadow mapping and SSAO integration, and tilt-shift effects. XGRIDS added real time point lights, spot lights and shadow casting to its LCC Unity SDK in 2.2.0. Selection in Splat Box Editor is visual, with splats picked individually or in groups, moved by precision gizmos, and altered in batches, previewed live in the editor viewport.
Daniel Skaale develops and sells the plugin through Simulacrum Inc, and posted the source code. Simulacrum lists Unity 6.5 support, URP as the default render pipeline, lifetime updates and a full demo scene. Installation runs through the Unity Package Manager, adding the package from disk out of a purchased ZIP.
The shop listing names no VR headset targets and no splat count ceiling, and cautions that compatibility with Unity versions other than 6.5 may vary.
Simulacrum sells two other Unity packages, a $29 Worldlabs API integration and a $36 VHS effects set.
