When we last covered Splatara in January, the platform had just released a production suite that brought project based workflows, scan merging, AI masking via SAM 3, and native C++ training into a single pipeline, all running between a Quest headset and a Windows companion app. It was already one of the more complete headset based Gaussian Splatting capture tools available, and it was entirely free.
What it lacked was distribution. You had to know where to find the APK, download it manually, and sideload it yourself. That barrier just got lower. SplataraScan, the app’s new formal name, is now listed on SideQuest.
The SideQuest listing packages the tool under the full title “SplataraScan: 3D Scanner & Multiplayer Viewer,”. SplataraScan now includes a secure peer to peer multiplayer viewer, letting multiple Quest users step into the same Gaussian Splat environment simultaneously using direct P2P connections, no cloud server in the middle. You scan a room, process it locally through the Windows companion app, send the trained splat back to the headset, and then invite someone to walk through it with you in VR. All data stays on your hardware and all connections are direct.
The rest of the feature set carries forward from the production suite release. Scanning on the Quest uses the headset’s depth sensors and spatial anchor system, which means you can pause a session and resume it later without losing alignment. Multiple scans can be merged into a single project. The Windows PC companion app handles training and editing, and the round-trip workflow from headset to PC and back keeps the entire pipeline local. There are no cloud uploads, no subscriptions, no hidden processing fees.
SplataraScan is listed as Early Access on SideQuest, free for personal use, with a note to contact the developer, Killian Cartelier, for commercial licensing. The companion Windows app is a separate download from the developer’s site.
Splatara went from a niche capture app to a production suite in a matter of months, and now it is on SideQuest with multiplayer viewing and a formal product name. Check out the SideQuest page and download it here.
