SuperSplat, the popular Radiance Field editor for 3DGS by PlayCanvas, released version 1.6 yesterday, introducing an exciting new feature: the ability to transform and translate individual splats. This means users can now select an object or a specific area within a scene and move it to a new position. In a sample video, PlayCanvas showcases one of the standard Radiance Field datasets, demonstrating the movement of two Pringles cans from one part of the table to another.
This new feature offers great potential, especially when paired with SuperSplat’s capability to add as many .ply files as your device can handle. With this flexibility, creating larger and more complex scenes has become even easier.
Yesterday on The View Dependent Podcast, my co-host MrNeRF and I spoke with Will Eastcott, CEO of PlayCanvas and SuperSplat. We had a great discussion about the platform, its features, and what the community has accomplished with it.
For those wondering, SuperSplat remains free to use and is also MIT-licensed, making it commercially viable and open to contributions. The editor can be accessed here.
