PlayCanvas has released SuperSplat 3.6, which lets its browser based gaussian splatting editor straighten a tilted capture from two points on a single vertical edge.
Align to Grid has worked from three picked points since the Orient tool arrived in SuperSplat 2.32, settling the picked region onto the grid as a plane. That method depends on a usable ground plane. SuperSplat 3.6 accepts two points as an alternative, aimed in PlayCanvas's wording at captures with "a clear vertical edge, such as a door frame or column."
In two point mode, the line from the first point to the second becomes the grid's up axis, +Y when the grid sits on XZ. Click order sets the direction, so a capture tilted 90 degrees or upside down needs no separate flip. The splat rotates about the line's midpoint, so the picked points stay in place, and nothing is dropped onto the grid because a line does not define a floor. Two point alignment keeps the 3 degree axis snap and single undo step of plane alignment, and three point alignment and Set Pivot are unchanged.
SuperSplat 3.6 also changes export. The SH Bands slider in the export dialog now sets the exact number of spherical harmonics bands written, where it previously acted as a maximum clamped to the source's band count. Bands the source lacks are filled with zeros. A band 0 model from a generator such as Trellis or HumanGaussian can now be exported with 3 bands for tools that expect a fixed SH layout, including the original INRIA 3DGS loader and the SIBR viewer.
The slider defaults to the scene's highest band count, capped by the viewport's SH bands setting, so default exports are unchanged. The slider covers PLY, compressed PLY, SOG, SPZ, and the HTML/ZIP viewer export, and the publish dialog gains the same control in place of a hardcoded 3 bands.
The export change is the first contribution from Yang-SyZng and resolves a SuperSplat issue opened in January 2025 asking for zero padded spherical harmonics so that Trellis and HumanGaussian PLY files would load in the INRIA renderer. SuperSplat 3.6 is the sixth minor release since SuperSplat 3.0 rebuilt the editor on WebGPU only.
SuperSplat 3.6.0 is available now in the browser at superspl.at.
