The Pixel Lab has released a Gaussian Splat Gemstones pack, a set of 30 lifelike 3D gemstone assets delivered as .ply files and sold as a drop in resource for motion design and 3D pipelines. The pack spans a wide range of materials, including vanadinite, marcasite, emeralds, fool's gold, pyrite, ruby, clear quartz rock crystals, and smoky quartz among them.
Gemstones are refractive, faceted, transparent geometry, which beautifully demonstrates the view dependent capability of splats that also render in real time. Because the gemstones are stored as Gaussian splats rather than polygonal meshes with glass shaders, they bypass the heavy polygonal and refraction-sampling overhead that normally governs render time for this kind of object, and they drop into any application that can read .ply.
The download is roughly 7 GB, and it ships at $39 (a $29 launch price) with a 60-day money back guarantee.
The Pixel Lab has long served with Cinema 4D material and model packs, and which has been edging toward splats through procedural tooling like Gaussian Splat Studio's C4D workflow. It follows the studio's earlier Gaussian Splat Clouds Pack.
It is available now directly through the Pixel Lab website.
