Tripo AI, a generative AI tool that has already gained traction among creators, has announced and released their latest version, which promises even more flexibility, precision, and creative freedom. Earlier this year, Tripo introduced notable updates, including TripoSR, a collaboration with Stability AI launched in March.

Tripo 2.0 now supports multimodal input for generating 3D models. Users can create models using text descriptions, single images, or multiple images.

A core focus of Tripo 2.0 seems to be aimed at improving the accuracy and fidelity of the generated 3D models. The update delivers:

  • High-precision 3D geometry: This feature enables the capture of complex shapes and fine details, improving the accuracy of both organic and structured forms.

  • 4K textures and PBR materials: The introduction of physically based rendering (PBR) materials alongside 4K texture support improves the realism of surface properties, resulting in more lifelike visual outputs. This aims to meet the increasing demands for higher-quality models across various industries.

Another notable feature of Tripo 2.0 is the decoupling of geometry and material generation. Users can now control the geometry and material aspects of a model independently, offering more flexibility in how these elements are applied. This can potentially reduce iteration time and allow for more targeted refinements during the modeling process.

Tripo 2.0 is available as both a web application and through an API. Note that while earlier this year Tripo was entirely free for unlimited generations, they have shifted towards a paid model, but the first ten generations remain free for users.

The new version is available for everyone immediately from their website.
