Today we get the first glimpse of the Volinga AI plugin in action. Ian Messina, the Director of Virtual Production at Studio Lab, walks through the space showing a NeRF rendering in real time in Unreal Engine.
This is the first publicly shown virtual production studio that I've seen showcase using a NeRF. Volinga has an integration with NeRFstudio that creates a .NVOL file, allowing users to export a NeRF into Unreal Engine 5.
He also announced a partnership with Volinga AI. This is additionally the first time that we've seen a production studio announce a formal partnership with a NeRF company.
In a statement on Linkedin, Volinga states:
We're thrilled to partner with Studio Lab and showcase the power of our NeRF technology for virtual production! Exciting times are ahead...
It appears as though we are moving into the next phase of NeRF implementation and creation, with professional players beginning to utilize the technology. Volinga is still taking wait list applications that can be found here. There's been no announcement yet as to when the waitlist will start admitting users.
