Six months ago, we covered Voluma AI’s announcement of their timelapse mode. Today, Voluma AI is back with big news: they’ve officially opened the public beta of their 3DGS platform, allowing anyone to experiment with and share up to ten 3D scenes at no cost.

Voluma AI’s goal remains the same—to simplify 3D creation and sharing in a browser-based environment. But now, they’ve expanded their toolset with a number of exciting features:

  • Upload & Link Multiple File Types
Supported formats include .ply, .splat, .ksplat, and .spz, enabling you to bring in diverse 3DGS file types.

  • Skydome Implementation
Easily add both procedural and bitmap-based skydomes to your scenes.

  • Seamless 3D Model Integration
Import and edit multiple 3DGS models, as well as GLB/GLTF files, in a single workspace.

  • Annotations & Labels
Place notes, tags, or interactive labels directly within your 3D environment.

  • Camera Customization
Tailor camera animations, transitions, and field of view (FOV) to create dynamic scene navigation.

  • Shader Markers
Highlight or darken specific areas with shader markers for emphasis or clarity.

  • Georeferencing & Maps
Pinpoint exact global coordinates for your models and enable mini-map overlays.

  • Easy Embedding & API Automation
Use iframes to embed scenes on your own website and leverage Voluma AI’s API for automated workflows.

Voluma AI has teased additional features on the horizon, including augmented reality (AR) compatibility, real-time streaming, and segmentation tools—further expanding what users can do with their 3D scenes.

Currently, Voluma AI only hosts the trained files, but there are a plethora of excellent platforms available to train your captures on, depending on your needs. Their website features various demos illustrating how interactive 3D can impact multiple industries. One personal favorite is a construction site demonstration, showcasing how lifelike 3D data can shift over time.

I’m also particularly excited about the ability to leave spatial annotations and georeferenced materials in these captures.

Anyone can join the public beta and experiment with up to ten 3D scenes completely free of charge. For a closer look at Voluma AI’s platform, head over to their website to sign up for the public beta.
