HoloLab Gaussian Splatting

Irrealix, the developer behind the popular Gaussian Splatting (3DGS) plugins for After Effects and DaVinci Resolve, has unveiled another milestone: Gaussian Splatting for Nuke. This powerful new plugin integrates Radiance Field technology into Nuke’s industry-standard compositing environment, enabling VFX professionals to import, manipulate, and render 3D Gaussian Splatting models in real-time using GPU acceleration.

With its seamless compatibility and innovative features, this plugin elevates the efficiency and creative possibilities for integrating 3D data into advanced compositing workflows.

Gaussian Splatting for Nuke: Features Overview

The plugin enables artists to import .ply files containing Gaussian Splats, whether compressed using SuperSplat or created with tools like Luma AI, and work with them inside Nuke. Notable features include:

🔗 File Handling

  • Import .ply files, including compressed files from SuperSplat.

  • Combine up to 10 models within a single scene.

🎯 Cropping & Alignment

  • Crop with Spherical or Box shapes, or using the Y Plane.

  • Align models to the center of the scene and orient them horizontally.

  • Use orthographic projection cameras for precise alignment.

🎨 Color & Effects

  • Colorize Splats with Ramp using Spherical or Box shapes.

  • Animate Splat Scale with Spherical or Box shapes for stunning reveals.

  • Reveal models with Opacity Ramp and Noise for dynamic effects.

  • Apply individual color correction to each model for temperature and brightness adjustments.

💻 Real-Time GPU Acceleration

  • Manipulate models in real-time with GPU optimization for a smooth workflow.

📏 Depth & Rendering

  • Render Depth Passes for 3D composition.

  • Export scenes seamlessly for further processing or sharing.

🌟 Creative Animation Tools

  • Animate Splats' size, opacity, and displacement using Ramps with Spherical or Box maps.

  • Distort models dynamically with Noise for dramatic effects.

Gaussian Splatting for Nuke integrates the Radiance Field technique into a high-end compositing workflow, empowering professionals to combine the explicit representation of Gaussian Splats with Nuke’s advanced node-based tools.

By enabling real-time interaction and precise controls for alignment, cropping, and color grading, the plugin supports seamless blending of 3D data with live-action footage. Artists can now push the creative boundaries of 3D compositing with flexibility and control.

The plugin has already been tested with samples, including:

  • Me on a Bench and Amsterdam, both captured by me.

  • Bikes on a Beach, crafted by Irrealix.

These examples showcase the potential of Gaussian Splatting in generating high-fidelity 3D scenes directly from 2D captures, now fully accessible within Nuke.

Availability and Licensing

Gaussian Splatting for Nuke is available now and supports a variety of workflows for individuals and studios alike. To learn more about pricing and licensing options, visit AE Scripts.

This latest release continues Irrealix’s mission of advancing Radiance Field technology and making it accessible to the broader creative industry. Creating immersive VFX for film or exploring new possibilities in 3D compositing, Gaussian Splatting for Nuke continues to open the landscape for innovation in post-production workflows. Only time will tell what industry platform will receive support for Radiance Field methods, like Gaussian Splatting and NeRFs.
