Applied Scientist (Computational Imaging / Graphics / Radiance Fields)
Overview
We are seeking
Principal Computational Imaging & Graphics Engineer
with backgrounds spanning computational imaging, 3D graphics, rendering systems, radiance fields, or spatial computing to help advance next-generation immersive streaming and volumetric rendering technologies.
This is a highly applied role focused on adapting and operationalizing cutting-edge research into production systems. Ideal candidates enjoy bridging research and engineering — rapidly evaluating emerging techniques, prototyping new ideas, and collaborating closely with engineering teams to build scalable real-world solutions.
Candidates from computational imaging, MRI reconstruction, medical visualization, VFX, XR, graphics, or spatial computing environments are strongly encouraged to apply.
What You’ll Work On
Evaluate and adapt emerging research in Gaussian Splatting, NeRFs, radiance fields, and volumetric representations
Develop production-quality Python and C++ systems for immersive spatial streaming and rendering workflows
Design and optimize real-time rendering, compression, and spatial data processing pipelines
Collaborate closely with rendering engineers, cloud infrastructure teams, and content processing teams
Contribute to challenging problems involving animated content, relighting, streaming, and open-world spatial experiences
Prototype and productionize research ideas efficiently in fast-moving engineering environments
Improve performance and scalability for real-time volumetric and 3D rendering systems
Ideal Background
Strong understanding of 3D graphics, rendering pipelines, and spatial representations
Hands-on experience with radiance fields, Gaussian Splatting, NeRFs, volumetric rendering, or related techniques
Professional Python software engineering experience
Strong engineering mindset with demonstrated ability to move research into production systems
Experience with computational imaging, MRI reconstruction, medical visualization, VFX, XR, or real-time rendering is highly relevant
Comfortable evaluating and implementing complex research papers
Strong collaboration and communication skills in cross-functional engineering environments
Nice to Have
Mobile or low-powered rendering optimization
Publications in graphics, rendering, computational imaging, or computer vision
Experience in startup or applied research environments
Experience balancing research exploration with product execution
