What is OmaScan?

OmaScan is a healthtech startup on a mission to help seniors and people with accessibility challenges live longer, safer, more independent lives at home.

Before someone gets a ramp, a stairlift or grab bars, an OT or accessibility professional visits their home with a tape measure, a notepad and a lot of photos. With OmaScan, they scan the home in 3D on an iPhone or iPad, measure anything, place the equipment right in the scan and get their report drafted in their own template.

We have raised funding, have paying customers and pilots, are working with universities, and regularly present at industry conferences. Here is a video with more info.

The Role

You will own OmaScan's 3D capture and reconstruction, the part of the product that every measurement, floor plan and equipment design depends on. This is a chance to build the core technology of an early-stage company that already has paying customers, and to help make OmaScan the standard way homes are assessed across North America.

You would be responsible for:

• Developing and improving the 3D scanning pipeline on iOS, including LiDAR depth fusion, photogrammetry and Gaussian splatting.

• Building a ground-truth test set of real rooms and tracking measurement error as the pipeline changes.

• Generating floor plans and room geometry that dealers and designers can edit, design on and quote from.

• Adding object scanning, so equipment and fixtures can be captured as accurate 3D models.

• Prototyping capture on iPhones without LiDAR and deciding with the team whether it is accurate enough to ship.

• Joining OTs and dealers on home visits to see how scans are used, and turning what you learn into product changes.

• You have started something of your own, like a company or a product with real users.

• You have a personal connection to healthcare, accessibility or aging in place.

• You are comfortable talking to users, understanding their problems, and building what they need.

We are early, and there is a lot to build. Things change week to week and you will wear a lot of hats. If you want a big team and a clear spec, this isn't it. If you want to own something real and see your work in a client's home the next week, you will love it.
