Job Description
Are you passionate about the endless possibilities of 3D generative models and neural scene representations? The field is currently at the forefront of AI research and holds the promise of unlocking groundbreaking innovations. Our focus is to combine 3D generative models like Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF) to create photorealistic simulated environments at an unprecedented scale. NeRF has already demonstrated unparalleled quality for bounded scenes; however, its application in unbounded or outdoor scenarios remains vastly unsolved.
Why is this so vital? As advancements in AI continue to scale up (e.g., large-scale AI, foundational models), the necessity for vast amounts of training data becomes a limiting factor, especially in applications where acquiring such data is challenging. By merging the capabilities of NeRF with 3D generative models, this PhD project aims to address the challenge of large-scale data availability through the automatic creation of photorealistic simulated environments.
As a PhD candidate, you will delve into the interplay of 3D generative models and automated 3D scene creation, seeking to redefine the limitations of what is currently possible.
As a part of the Bosch Research Computer Vision Lab and the Bosch Center for Artificial Intelligence in Hildesheim, you collaborate with Bosch as well as with academic research groups, supervise students and engage in technology scouting.
Part of your work is to research, implement and evaluate the neural scene 3D representation as well as generative AI methods.
Evaluate your algorithms on real Bosch systems as well as data and participate in scientific benchmarks.
You will not have any industry project duties and your primary goal will be to perform academic research of the highest quality.
Last but not least, you will publish scientific articles, participate in scientific conferences and prepare your PhD thesis.
