Job Description
As a Research Scientist – Robotics AI, you will contribute to research projects at the forefront of autonomous driving, robotics, and embodied AI.
Responsibilities
Conduct research and engineering in core AI and machine learning disciplines to enable Embodied AI applications across ADAS, autonomous driving, industrial automation, robotics, and related domains.
Advance the state of the art in AI-powered robotics, incorporating large vision-language-action models to improve reasoning capabilities and explainability.
Collaborate cross-functionally with global research and engineering teams to ensure seamless technology transfer and system integration.
Apply research innovations to solve real-world challenges while ensuring robust integration into Bosch platforms and products.
Stay at the forefront of innovation by actively participating in conferences, workshops, and technical communities.
Publish research findings in leading conferences and journals and contribute to intellectual property development through patent submissions.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related discipline, or a Master's degree with 2+ years of relevant industry experience.
Minimum of 3 years of R&D experience or equivalent graduate research experience in AI technologies, including Computer Vision and robotic or automotive motion and behavioral planning.
Proficiency in one or more programming languages commonly used in machine learning, such as:
Python
C++
Rust
Experience with major machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
Hands-on experience with reinforcement learning for behavior planning, motion planning, or related applications.
Familiarity with reinforcement learning techniques, including:
PPO
DQN
DDPG
Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
Strong publication record in leading machine learning, robotics, deep learning, or computer vision conferences and journals.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing and deploying real-world autonomous systems.
Hands-on experience building and applying multimodal transformer-based sequence-to-sequence models, particularly multimodal vision-language-action models.
Experience in computer vision and deep learning, including one or more of the following areas:
Multimodal Transformers
Vision-Language Models (VLMs)
Diffusion Models
Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF)
Gaussian Splatting
Object Detection and Segmentation
3D Scene Understanding
Sensor Calibration
Structure-from-Motion (SfM)
Voxel-Based Representations
Bird's-Eye View (BEV) Feature Representations
Compensation & Benefits
We offer a competitive base salary for this position in California:
Base Salary Range: $165,000 – $185,000 USD
Compensation also includes:
Annual Corporate Bonus
