Aurora hires talented people with diverse backgrounds who are ready to help build a transportation ecosystem that will make our roads safer, get crucial goods where they need to go, and make mobility more efficient and accessible for all. We’re searching for a Senior Machine Learning Engineer.

In this role, you will

  • Work on research, development, and deployment of state-of-the-art methods in computer graphics/vision and machine learning.

  • Train sensing ML models on synthetic training data.

  • Collaborate across various cross-team projects, providing ample opportunities for growth and impact on the Aurora Driver.

  • Help unlock new sensing model capabilities using synthetic training data.

  • Develop generative AI data generation pipelines.

  • Surface high-impact findings to relevant Engineering leadership, keeping feedback loop going to influence Aurora’s synthetic data and ML strategy.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.

  • Strong critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills.

  • Excellent software engineering skills in Python

  • Experience in Deep Learning

  • Experience with Pytorch/Tensorflow/Jax or similar frameworks

Desirable Qualifications

  • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science.

  • Experience with computer vision.

  • Experience with synthetic training data.

  • Previous experience with generative ML models, e.g. diffusion models, 

  • Previous experience with NeRFs/Gaussian Splats.

  • Top-tier publications in related fields (e.g., CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, IJCV,  ICML, NeurIPS, JMLR, PAMI, SIGGRAPH, TOG)

The base salary range for this position is $144,000-$216,000 per year.  Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
