As part of Edit Fest, there will be two exciting NeRF events this year, called Picture NeRFect.

Edit Fest is 100% free to join and remote only. Edit Fest starts tomorrow morning, May 2nd, at 8am PST and will run through May 4th at 2am PST.

Edit Party is a 24/7 virtual co-working space for creatives across the world. It was created on May 3, 2020 by VFX artist Cache Bunny, who was looking for ways to stay connected with other creators during lockdown. The mission of Edit Party is to simply give people a communal workspace that they can access from anywhere. We keep our microphones muted so that people can focus on their work, and instead listen to music together (which you can opt in and out of at your leisure!) and talk via text in the chat. It is 100% free and there are no requirements to join! We welcome any and all people who seek motivation, professional peers, or just want to connect with the creator community. We are always live, so feel free to join right now and see for yourself! :)

The NeRF specific events are at:

May 4th 9pm PST: Picture NeRFect with James Perlman

May 5th at 12pm PST: Picture NeRFect with Franc Lucent

Luma AI is sponsoring the event and there will be a prize for the winner!

What is Picture NeRFect?

Dive into the world of PictureNeRFect, a thrilling and captivating game where you'll experience Neural Radiance Fields (NeRFs) as they evolve right before your eyes! Prepare to put your cognitive skills to the test as you race against fellow players to decipher the emerging NeRFs, with each round presenting a unique, mind-bending challenge.

Shrinking 3DGS File Size

Gaussian Splatting has quickly become one of the most exciting research topics in Radiance Fields, thanks to its fast training, real time rendering rates, and easy to create pipeline. The one critique that emerged was the resulting file size from captures, often venturing into the high hundreds of megabytes and up.

A short 170 year history of Neural Radiance Fields (NeRF), Holograms, and Light Fields

Lightfield and hologram capture started with a big theoretical idea 115 years ago and we have struggled to make them viable ever since. Neural Radiance fields aka NeRF along with gaming computers now for the first time provide a promising easy and low cost way for everybody to capture and display lightfields.
