A year ago, an exciting project was completed by Kody Kurth and the team at Profectum Media, where they captured NeRFs of the entire Phoenix Suns team. These captures came together to create the 2023-2024 introductory video for the Phoenix Suns, which has now earned significant recognition.

Last night at the Regional Emmys in Phoenix, Neural Radiance Fields won two awards, one for Technical Achievement and for Sports Promotion. You might remember we covered the initial nomination a couple months ago, for the Intro video for the 2023 Phoenix Suns.

The results were announced last night and see for yourself!

The original video featured NeRFs of both the players and the stadium, showcasing the versatility of Radiance Fields in creating hyper-real and captivating content. The Profectum team created a portable capture rig comprising 52 GoPros, enabling the rapid, high-quality capture of the team.

This video was a collaborative effort between the Phoenix Suns, Profectum Media, and Luma AI.

Congratulations to Kody and Kate Kurth, the rest of the Profectum Media team, and the Phoenix Suns on the win! This accomplishment also joins The Weather Channel's Emmy Award-winning FloodFX, which uses Radiance Fields to power its visualizations.

This makes NeRFs now 3-for-3 in Emmy nomination wins. It’s exciting and encouraging to see the Academy recognize the importance of hyper-real content created through Radiance Field-based technologies.
