Atlux, formerly Atlux λ and before that MetaShoot, is a paid Unreal Engine visualization plugin whose Capture tools render virtual camera arrays and export COLMAP datasets for Gaussian Splatting training.

Platform

Unreal Engine 5.4 to 5.8 plugin. Windows via standalone installer, Windows and macOS via Fab

GPU

None published beyond Unreal Engine's own requirements. Capture renders run in Unreal, and splat training happens afterwards in a separate trainer such as Postshot or LichtFeld Studio

Pricing

$99.90 perpetual licence (excl. tax), direct or via Fab. Educational rental $4.95 per month, free educational licence with school validation

Synthetic Gaussian Splatting training data from Unreal Engine scenes

Updated

July 2026

Atlux is a lighting, cinematics and rendering plugin for Unreal Engine, solo developed by Jorge Valle Hurtado, built around a virtual photo studio and one click rendering. The product was previously sold as MetaShoot and then as Atlux λ. It is aimed mainly at product visualization and architectural visualization.

Atlux λ 2, released in October 2025, added a Capture workflow that turns an Unreal scene into Gaussian Splatting training data. A Camera Volume places an array of virtual DSLR cameras around a subject to simulate a physical scanning booth, a Point Cloud Volume samples the scene geometry from surfaces, camera ray casts or vertices, and Set Scan Render Settings enables COLMAP export and denoising. Atlux then batch renders every camera and writes a COLMAP dataset with intrinsics, extrinsics and a point cloud, which goes into Postshot, LichtFeld Studio or another COLMAP based trainer. The Atlux Gaussian Splatting guide covers products, interiors, exteriors and large scale scenes.

Atlux v2.1.4 batches every camera in a scan into a single render sequence rather than restarting the render window for each one frame camera, which shortens COLMAP export, and it adds a volumetric emissive light source in seven variations that works with Path Tracing. The ArchViz guide adds 360 Cameras to the Camera Volumes for interiors, and its example scene used 1,886 cameras, 197k training steps in LichtFeld Studio and 6M splats in the web version. A 4DGS guide applies the same pipeline to animated scenes and provides frame by frame training scripts for Postshot and LichtFeld Studio.

Atlux supports Unreal Engine 5.4 through 5.8. A perpetual licence costs $99.90 excluding tax for one active user on any computer, either through the standalone installer, which is Windows only, or through Fab and the Epic Games Launcher, which also covers macOS. Educational users can rent it for $4.95 a month or take a free licence after school validation. A runtime edition, Atlux Live, packages a scene as an interactive desktop application.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Atlux?

Atlux is a paid Unreal Engine visualization plugin by Jorge Valle Hurtado, formerly called Atlux λ and MetaShoot, whose Capture tools render virtual camera arrays and export COLMAP datasets for Gaussian Splatting training.

Does Atlux train Gaussian Splats itself?

Atlux does not train splats. It renders a scene from a Camera Volume of virtual cameras and exports a COLMAP dataset, which is then trained in Postshot, LichtFeld Studio or another COLMAP compatible trainer.

How much does Atlux cost?

Atlux costs $99.90 excluding tax for a perpetual single user licence, bought directly or through Fab, and educational users can rent it for $4.95 a month or apply for a free licence.

Which Unreal Engine versions and operating systems does Atlux support?

Atlux supports Unreal Engine 5.4 to 5.8 and runs on Windows through its standalone installer, and on Windows and macOS when installed through Fab and the Epic Games Launcher.

How does Atlux compare with Gauss Cannon?

Atlux generates synthetic Gaussian Splatting training data from Unreal Engine scenes as part of a paid visualization toolkit, while Gauss Cannon is a free GPL-3.0 Blender add-on that does a similar job inside Blender.
