Publishing hosted Gaussian splat tours and stories from the browser

Updated

July 2026

Captures Studio is a browser based platform for 3D Gaussian Splatting built by NHU AI, covering the full path from raw footage to a hosted, shareable scene without any desktop software. Reconstruction runs in the cloud from images or video, the resulting asset lands directly in the editor, and the finished scene publishes to a viewer that the platform hosts. Version 1.0 launched in April 2026.

The editor is built around presentation rather than around reconstruction quality. Scenes carry images, video, 3D text and 3D meshes alongside the splat, viewpoints can be placed and navigated between, and parts of a scene can be labelled. The company frames the output as virtual tours, 3D storytelling and training modules, which is a narrower and more commercial target than the general purpose splat editors it sits next to. Splat editing tools operate on the reconstruction itself in the same interface.

Panoramic capture arrived with the second release. Version 1.2.0 added 360 image and video support along with API access, which matters because a single 360 pass through a building produces the coverage that would otherwise take a planned perspective shoot. The 360 upload allowance is tracked separately from the general upload limit on every paid tier, which is a sign the format is treated as a first class input rather than as a converted one.

Multi Splat is a free browser tool that sits outside the paid platform entirely. It runs three modes, Align for bringing two captures into a common frame, Compare for putting them side by side, and 4D Timelapse for stepping through captures of the same place made at different times. It imports PLY, SPZ, SPLAT and KSPLAT along with Spark's RAD format, and exports SPZ with the pose baked in, so the alignment survives into whatever reads the file next. Everything runs client side with no upload, which means a scene never leaves the machine and no account is needed to use it.

Pricing runs four tiers. The free tier allows 10 projects, 1 GB of storage, a 1 GB upload limit, 300 images, three minutes of video and a 3 GB 360 video allowance, with email support and a branded viewer. Plus at 19 USD per month raises that to 25 projects, 20 GB of storage, 600 images, seven minutes of video and 10 GB of 360 upload, and removes the viewer branding. Pro at 99 USD per month allows 999 projects, 200 GB of storage, 1,500 images, fifteen minutes of video and 20 GB of 360 upload, with priority support. Enterprise is quoted. Reconstruction credits are metered separately at 2 per month on Plus and 10 per month on Pro.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Captures Studio free?

Captures Studio has a free tier that allows 10 projects, 1 GB of storage and 300 images per reconstruction, with a branded viewer. Paid tiers run at 19 USD per month for Plus and 99 USD per month for Pro, with Enterprise quoted.

What is Multi Splat?

Multi Splat is a free browser tool from Captures Studio for working with more than one Gaussian splat at once, with Align, Compare and 4D Timelapse modes. It runs entirely client side with no upload and needs no account.

Which splat formats does Captures Studio Multi Splat read and write?

Captures Studio Multi Splat imports PLY, SPZ, SPLAT and KSPLAT along with Spark's RAD format, and exports SPZ with the alignment pose baked into the file.

Does Captures Studio need a GPU?

Captures Studio runs reconstruction in the cloud, so no local GPU is required to build a scene. Viewing scenes and running the Multi Splat tool need a WebGL2 capable GPU in the browser, which any recent laptop or phone provides.

Can Captures Studio reconstruct from 360 footage?

Yes. Captures Studio added 360 image and video support in version 1.2.0, and every paid tier meters 360 uploads under a separate allowance from the general upload limit.
