ColmapView is a free AGPL-3.0 browser viewer for COLMAP reconstructions and Gaussian splats, with Hugging Face publishing and a public dataset catalog.

Platform

Web app in the browser with nothing to install, hosted at colmapview.github.io and at colmapview.opsiclear.com

GPU

None published. ColmapView runs in the browser with WebAssembly parsing and GPU instanced rendering, and draws PLY and SPZ splats with WebGPU, falling back to Spark where WebGPU is unavailable. It only views and trains nothing, so no CUDA GPU is involved

ColmapView is a browser based viewer for COLMAP reconstructions built by Yehe Liu, with copyright held by OpsiClear LLC. A COLMAP folder, a ZIP archive or a folder of images alone is dragged onto the page and opens with nothing to install, and subfolders such as sparse/0 are found automatically. It is a separate project from COLMAP itself, which added its own browser based viewer for sparse reconstructions in 4.2.0.

The viewer draws point clouds coloured by RGB, reprojection error or track length, camera frustums, animated feature matches between images and synchronized multi camera rigs. It supports all 18 COLMAP camera models and previews undistortion for projective and fisheye cameras in real time. Parsing runs in WebAssembly for reconstructions above a million points, and the gallery scrolls through more than 10,000 images. Picking one point sets the origin, two set the real world scale and three level a plane, while RANSAC floor detection levels the scene automatically. Exports cover COLMAP binary and text, PLY point clouds and ZIP archives, along with screenshots and GIF, WebM and MP4 recordings, and nine coordinate conventions are available, among them Blender, Houdini, Unity and Unreal.

Gaussian splats load alongside the reconstruction as SPZ, PLY or PlayCanvas SOG files, so a trained splat can be checked against the cameras and sparse points it came from. ColmapView v0.15 added SOG loading, and SOG bundles render through World Labs' Spark after the viewer moved to Spark 2.2.0 in v0.14.5. Each SOG is validated before Spark decodes it, and phones get a 50 MB touch budget for splats. Version 0.21.1 loads matching camera frames on demand from per camera MP4 or WebM video.

Sharing is built into the viewer. Version 0.15 added one click publishing to Hugging Face, which uploads the COLMAP model, images, masks, splats and viewer settings to a public dataset and returns a single viewer link that anyone opens through Load URL. Google Drive ZIPs and S3 compatible buckets are further upload targets, and Google Drive and Hugging Face tokens stay in the browser tab rather than on a ColmapView server.

Spatial Hub is a public catalog of COLMAP compatible scene datasets that open directly in the viewer. It listed 4,559 scene entries drawn from 144 sources at the end of October 2026, each tile showing the data a scene carries and a license tag, and the Gaussians tag requires verified format evidence. Spatial Hub indexes the datasets without hosting them, and v0.20.1 added Share on Hub, which submits a public dataset for review after a bot check and server verification.

ColmapView and the Spatial Hub source are both licensed AGPL-3.0, and a Section 7(b) clause requires every deployment to display visible attribution, reading Built with ColmapView by OpsiClear, with a link to the repository. The viewer is free to use at colmapview.github.io.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is ColmapView?

ColmapView is a free browser viewer for COLMAP reconstructions by Yehe Liu. It draws point clouds, camera frustums, feature matches and multi camera rigs, supports all 18 COLMAP camera models and loads Gaussian splats alongside the reconstruction, with nothing to install.

Which Gaussian splat formats does ColmapView load?

ColmapView loads Gaussian splats as SPZ, PLY or PlayCanvas SOG files placed with a COLMAP reconstruction. SOG loading arrived in ColmapView v0.15, and SOG bundles render through World Labs' Spark.

Can ColmapView publish a dataset?

ColmapView publishes a COLMAP model with its images, masks, splats and viewer settings to a public Hugging Face dataset in one click and returns a single viewer link, a feature added in v0.15. Google Drive and S3 compatible buckets are also upload targets.

What is ColmapView Spatial Hub?

ColmapView Spatial Hub is a public catalog of COLMAP compatible scene datasets that open directly in the ColmapView viewer. Spatial Hub indexes datasets without hosting them and listed 4,559 scene entries from 144 sources at the end of October 2026.

What license is ColmapView released under?

ColmapView is licensed AGPL-3.0, and a Section 7(b) clause requires any deployment to display visible attribution, reading Built with ColmapView by OpsiClear, with a link to the repository. AGPL-3.0 also requires a modified version offered to users over a network to make its source available to them.
