Lightcraft Technology builds Spark Story, a browser previsualization platform that blocks shots inside Gaussian splat scans of real locations.

Hiring?

Platform

Browser app, with an iOS companion app for on set capture

GPU

None published. Spark Story runs in a browser, so a WebGL2 capable GPU is the floor. Splat scans are supplied as assets, so no local GPU is used for reconstruction

Pricing

$29.95 per month during the Spark Story rolling beta

Browser based previsualization on Gaussian splat locations

Lightcraft Technology is a virtual production company based in Los Angeles. Eliot Mack is its chief executive and Bill Warner, who founded Avid, is its chairman. The company has spent its history moving on set virtual production down the price curve, from a rack mounted system priced like a house to a browser subscription priced like a streaming service.

That trajectory runs through four products. Previzion was the first, an Emmy winning on set camera tracking and compositing system that composited live action against virtual backgrounds in real time and sold for roughly $180,000. Jetset followed and replaced the tracking hardware with a phone. Spark generalized the approach, and Spark Story is the current product.

Spark Story is a previsualization platform that runs in a browser. It loads Gaussian splat scans of real locations as the shooting environment, then places USD and USDZ assets into that environment so shots can be blocked, framed and timed against the actual geometry and lighting of a place. A companion iOS app handles on set capture and carries the previs into the field. Lightcraft opened a rolling beta at SIGGRAPH 2026 and prices it at $29.95 per month.

Lightcraft consumes splat scans rather than producing them. There is no trainer in Spark Story, so the reconstruction of a location arrives as an asset from a scanning service or a separate capture pipeline. That places Lightcraft downstream of the capture tools rather than in competition with them, and it means the quality ceiling of a Spark Story previs is set by whatever produced the scan.

Lightcraft's Spark shares a name with Spark, the three.js Gaussian splat renderer World Labs released, and the two are unrelated products from unrelated companies.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Spark Story?

Spark Story is Lightcraft Technology's browser based previsualization platform. It loads Gaussian splat scans of real locations as the shooting environment and places USD and USDZ assets into them, so a shot can be blocked against the geometry of an actual place before a crew arrives.

How much does Spark Story cost?

Spark Story costs $29.95 per month during the rolling beta Lightcraft opened at SIGGRAPH 2026.

Does Spark Story create Gaussian splats?

Spark Story consumes Gaussian splat scans rather than producing them. Lightcraft ships no trainer, so the scan of a location has to be reconstructed elsewhere and brought in as an asset.

Is Lightcraft's Spark the same as the Spark renderer from World Labs?

Lightcraft's Spark and Spark Story are unrelated to Spark, the three.js Gaussian splat renderer World Labs publishes. Two different companies shipped products under the same name.

What did Lightcraft build before Spark Story?

Lightcraft built Previzion, an Emmy winning on set camera tracking and compositing system that sold for roughly $180,000, followed by the Jetset phone tracking app and then Spark.
