Presenting point clouds and splats together in AEC
Updated

NUBIGON is a Windows desktop application for visualizing and presenting large reality capture datasets, built around point clouds and extended to gaussian splatting in 2025. It is aimed at architecture, engineering, construction and digital heritage work, where the deliverable is a navigable presentation of a scanned site rather than a modeled asset. The company is based in New York.
Gaussian splat support arrived in v7.2.0 on April 30, 2025, which introduced rendering of Gaussian splat PLY files with built-in level of detail. Version 7.5.2, released July 6, 2026, added clip-plane support for gaussian splats, so a splat scene can be cut open for dollhouse presentations or combined with point clouds, meshes, CAD and BIM geometry in a single hybrid view. The same release improved the level of detail system, introduced a physically based sunlight and shadow engine with time of day animation, added 8K screenshot output, and fixed georeferenced RVT handling.
NUBIGON imports gaussian splats as PLY only. There is no SPZ or SOG path, and the application does not export splats, so it sits at the presentation end of a pipeline. Files trained in Postshot import with an incorrect orientation and require a Rotate X value of minus 90 to sit level. The application runs on Windows only, and an NVIDIA graphics card is required for the Create section, for cleaning, and for gaussian splat rendering.
Licensing is a single product with all features included, sold four ways. A monthly subscription costs 99 US dollars, three months costs 267, a year costs 899, and a perpetual licence is a one-time charge for $3499. All prices exclude tax. Perpetual licences carry free updates with no maintenance fee, and annual, quarterly and perpetual purchases include a training session. Academic buyers receive 30 percent off one to two licences, 37 percent off three to five, and 44 percent off six or more. A free two-week trial is available without payment details.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does NUBIGON support Gaussian splatting?
Yes. NUBIGON added gaussian splat rendering in version 7.2.0 in April 2025, with built-in level of detail, and version 7.5.2 added clip-plane support so splat scenes can be sectioned for presentation.
What Gaussian Splat formats can NUBIGON open?
NUBIGON imports gaussian splats as PLY files only. There is no SPZ or SOG support, and NUBIGON cannot export gaussian splats in any format.
What does NUBIGON cost?
NUBIGON is one product with all features included, priced at 99 US dollars monthly, 267 for three months, or 899 annually, all excluding tax. A perpetual license is available as a one-time charge for $3499. Academic discounts run from 30 to 44 percent depending on license count.
Does NUBIGON run on Mac?
No. NUBIGON is Windows only, and an NVIDIA graphics card is required for gaussian splat rendering, cleaning and the Create section.
Why does a Postshot file import into NUBIGON upside down?
Gaussian splat files trained in Postshot use a different axis convention, and NUBIGON requires a Rotate X value of minus 90 on import to bring the scene level.
