Scaniverse lets you capture, edit, and share 3D content directly from your phone. Using LiDAR, photogrammetry, and gaussian splatting, it builds 3D models with high fidelity and stunning detail.
Scaniverse is a free iOS and Android app from Niantic. They announced the support Gaussian Splatting in late March.
What's great about Scaniverse is that you are able to prcoess the captures locally on your phone, meaning that you do not need to upload your data anywhere. Additionally, you are also able to process your captures without needing phone service or wifi. Processing times are fast, with most of my captures being completed in under 90 seconds.
On August 26th, 2024 they unveiled the release of Scaniverse 4, which allowed the live mapping of the earth using Gaussian Splatting. They additionally announced Gaussian Splatting Support within Niantic Studio using Scaniverse's .SPZ file type.
Starting today, Niantic Studio enables developers to harness the full potential of splatting by enabling the import of Scaniverse’s `.SPZ` file directly into Studio. With Scaniverse, you can easily export the splat you create as an `.SPZ` file. Once uploaded to Studio, these splats can be seamlessly integrated into your projects, serving as the foundation for hyper-realistic 3D experiences.
