The weekly Radiance Field live stream returns today at 4 PM EST with special guest Ruilong Li.
If you’ve ever used Nerfstudio, you’ve directly benefited from Ruilong's contributions. He is the first author of NerfAcc, the NeRF Acceleration Toolbox that powers both training and inference in Nerfstudio's NeRFs. But Ruilong didn’t stop there.
He also led the development of gsplat 1.0, a breakthrough that dramatically reduced training times and memory usage while enabling the processing of significantly larger scenes. And there’s more.
Ruilong is currently a research intern at NVIDIA, where he has authored papers such as NeRF-XL, which facilitates the infinite scaling of NeRFs across GPUs. In a notable demonstration, his team trained a single NeRF model to cover an area of twenty-five kilometers using two hundred sixty thousand images. This achievement earned Ruilong a feature on Two Minute Papers.
His most recent work includes NVIDIA’s fVDB, unveiled at SIGGRAPH, where NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang hailed it as one of the most exciting innovations of the event. All of this work is occuring while Ruilong is finishing his PhD at the University of Berkeley.
Don’t miss today’s stream at 4pm EST, available across LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube—whichever platform suits you best. The episode will be available immediately following the conclusion at the same links.
We’ll also announce our next guest at the end of today’s stream.
