TerraScan 026.008 added Cut points, Copy points and Paste points tools, documented as mainly intended for manual scene editing with Gaussian Splat data.
The three tools sit in the Copy toolbox of the TerraScan toolbox, with Terrasolid extracting a set of points and placing that set at another location in the scene. Cut points picks points to the TerraScan clipboard and removes the originals, Copy points picks them and keeps the originals, and Paste points adds points from the clipboard into the scene.
TerraScan 025.020 added Merge splats, a File pulldown command that loads gaussian splat parameters from separate splat files onto an active point cloud. The same build let Read points accept a single DJI metadata.xml file to read gaussian splats generated by DJI Terra, taking the projection system coordinates from the xml and transforming the splats into them.
Merge splats pairs points and splats by position, so the active points and the input splats have to share a coordinate system, and a Max distance value in the dialog bounds the pairing. Splats that pair with no point are either ignored or added as points under a chosen Class, Line and Scanner. Terrasolid notes that good quality gaussian splat visualization usually requires splats sitting away from the true geometry, and recommends adding those separated splats as points. The fused result is stored in point cloud formats capable of carrying extra attributes.
TerraSplat is the display layer for that data. It is a plugin that brings Gaussian Splat visualization into Bentley and Spatix CAD environments, reads .ply files containing gaussian splats, and displays them in their correct spatial projection. A merged point cloud is viewed by activating TerraSplat or TerraStereo and selecting the Splat display mode. TerraSplat reached its first full release at 025.007, and the current 026.004 build adds support for 2D splats.
TerraSplat costs 350 euros a year and is the only product on the Terrasolid price list with no perpetual option. TerraStereo is 3,200 euros perpetual with 480 euros maintenance, and TerraScan is 5,700 euros perpetual with 855 euros maintenance. Terrasolid prices are net, at VAT 0 percent.
A survey crew already running TerraScan can cut a set of points out of one location in a scene and paste it into another without leaving the CAD environment. It is available now.
