Tim Fennell has released Gaussian Splat Patch v0.1.15, which can merge several splat objects into one model and bake its edits permanently.
Gaussian Splat Patch arrived at the end of September as a Blender extension with seven brushes for erasing, clone stamping and healing gaussian splatting scans. Its Export Splat PLY writes positions in object space and ignores the object transform, and Blender 5.3 lists Apply Transform as not correctly handling scale, rotation or spherical harmonics attributes.
Merge Splat Objects, added in v0.1.14, combines the selected splat objects into one new object anchored on the active one and named after it with a _merged suffix. Each splat's position, rotation and size is carried into the active object's space, and the higher SH bands that hold view dependent color are rotated with it. Erased splats and the Restore brush history come along, models with different SH degrees or attributes are padded to match, and the originals can be hidden, kept or deleted. Export Splat PLY then writes the merged model as one file.
On a scaled, rotated and moved copy, Fennell reports that the merged splats match the originals to float precision. A non uniform scale or a mirrored object cannot be carried exactly by splats, so the merge uses the average scale or nearest rotation and warns. Merging holds a working copy of every model at once, at about 250 bytes per splat.
Gaussian Splat Patch hides erased splats at zero opacity and stashes their originals, so a model keeps its full size while it is edited. Bake Edits, in the renamed Bake, Merge & Export panel, deletes the erased splats and drops the stash and bookkeeping, leaving a model that costs only its visible splats in memory and in the .blend. The tool asks first, since Restore cannot recover anything erased before a bake.
Gaussian Splat Patch requires the unreleased Blender 5.3 and was built against its alpha. Gaussian Splat Patch v0.1.15 is available now under the GPL-3.0 license.
