MLSLabs has released MLSLabsRenderer-Pro V2.1.0.0, which brings its Unreal Engine plugin for gaussian splatting to Linux, Android and Pico standalone headsets.
MLSLabsRenderer-Lite arrived in March as a Windows plugin for Unreal Engine 5.5. It used a custom rendering pipeline outside Niagara, required NVIDIA GPUs and prompted users to download LibTorch on first launch. An Ubuntu 22.04 build followed in V1.0.3.13 in June, but only on request by email.
Pro_2.0.0.0_preview, released September 3, moved the renderer to Vulkan, required only Vulkan 1.3 drivers, and removed the LibTorch dependency. MLSLabsRenderer-Pro V2.1.0.0 extends that pipeline to NVIDIA, AMD and mobile GPUs, and installing the plugin no longer requires downloading LibTorch or any other third party library.
Android packaging produces an APK that installs and runs directly on Pico standalone headsets. The headset build starts in VR mode by default, set with r.MLSLabs.MixedReality 0, and switches to MR mode with r.MLSLabs.MixedReality 1. VR streaming from a PC is also supported. The project README lists 250,000+ Gaussians at 30+ FPS on a Pico 4 Ultra Enterprise and at 60+ FPS on a REDMI K80 phone.
Static ply and sog files and ply sequences for 4DGS volumetric video load on every platform, and projects package in both Development and Shipping configurations. The listed GPU floor is the GeForce RTX 20 series, the Radeon RX 6000 series, or a Mali-G68 or G7x series or Adreno 5xx to 7xx mobile GPU.
The README requirements section still lists Windows 10 or 11 and Unreal Engine 5.5.x, and the V2.1.0.0 notes do not name a Linux distribution or the supported engine versions. Pro_V1.0.3.12 added login authentication, along with watermark removal for paying members, and Pro_V1.0.5.0, published the same day as V2.1.0.0, reworked that login so it no longer depends on website certificates. Builds are distributed through Baidu Netdisk and Google Drive, with a listing on Fab.
MLSLabsRenderer-Pro V2.1.0.0 is available now.
